its time to dish the dirt

We’re Robin & Paul, two friends with an allotment in Bow, East London. We don’t claim to know everything there is to know about growing things, but over the years we’ve enjoyed sharing what we’ve learned.

We think dirt gets a bad rap, so we’re on a journey to show the world just how great it can be. From kitchen scraps to compost, and microbes to mud we love getting our hands dirty.

Join us on our journey, as we grow fresh fruit & vegetables, propagate, pickle and ferment our way into a wonderfully dirty future.

  • failure is fine

Just have a go. Growing things is just as much about learning what went wrong as it is about bountiful success. Plus, learning to anticipate disappointments makes a bumper crop feel all the more triumphant.

  • love the ugly

Plants, fruit and vegetables come in all shapes and sizes. You might crave a round and pendulous aubergine, but wonky can be wonderful. Breathe new life into the stragglers. Turn compost into commodities.

  • be amazed

We’re constantly going all starry-eyed for nature. Don’t get too caught up in your gardening strategy that you forget why you started. With the right mindset the smallest detail of nature can be as rewarding as a greenhouse of juicy melons.
